A Welcome Move For All Jammu Residents and for The Planet Residents of Jammu division will be relieved of the polythene problem as the manufacturing of polythene bags has been banned with the Jammu and Kashmir Non Bio-Degradable Material (Management, Handling and Disposal) Act 2007 coming into force from May 11 2009. The government has issued a notification to various departments asking them to gear up to face challenges on the environmental front. Earlier Jammu Residents had partnered with Trader Federation to get rid of plastic / polythene bags from Dal lake and other water bodies along with contribution from local residents and CRPF. With BAN being enforced, water bodies would have less of polythene bags and that would certainly help in growth of flora and fauna in the region apart from clogged sewage systems that polythen bags often lead to all over the world.
